How to be an Empathic Manager? ✨
A manager is someone that the team looks up to for career guidance and support. An empathic manager could build better relationships with the team, get to know the team, and empower the team to reach their goals. Our mentors John Apostol, Simon Yee, and Natashia Tjandra will share some tips for you to succeed in your career as a manager.
1. Give useful feedback as soon as possible
This will make people feel safe to give their feedback too.
Feedback provides clear direction.
Make this a core routine
2. Consider other scenarios
To prevent your team from taking things personally.
Figure the different sides of the story.
Be in their shoes
3. Practice giving feedback
Be emotionally ready to talk about serious issues.
Practice a review by giving constructive feedback.
How do you structure feedback that people find useful?
4. Experiment with different conversation styles
Sometimes people could react negatively or positively to different conversation styles.
Try different communication approaches.
Keep fighting for what works best.
5. Keep empowering people
Always stand-by in the background
Ensure the person is on the right path
Provide mentorship that guides them to try new things and take risks.
