Tips to create an outstanding portfolio ✨
In this week's learning, our mentor- Auldyn Matthews-McGee, the Associate Director of UX at Phreesia will share tips for you to create a design portfolio that stand-out from the crowd.
Part 1: The hook (introduction):
Incorporate the three things that make you stand out: Values, Experiences, or Passions into the statement).
Write a title in the format of a “How might we” question to frame the project.
Part 2: Writing the portfolio pieces:
Write the piece that could be skimmed in 30 seconds and read in 5 minutes.
Use storytelling format.
Give context to why a photo was included.
Part 3: Writing the portfolio as a whole
Pick the strongest 3-4 portfolio pieces and offer to send more.
Show depth if your want to be a specialist. Show breadth if you want to have a generalist.
Choose 2-3 visual elements to play with and change.
Part 4: The resume
Create a resume page with text plus a download button.
Make your portfolio, resume, and LinkedIn profile a coherent experience.
Part 5: The additional content
Write about why you do post work?
Create a separate case study presentation going in-depth on one project and how it applies to the company.
