How to sharpen your interview skills?
Our mentors Mehak Sharma and Jen Enrique share tips on how to do well in your next interview 🚀🦄.
1. Drive the interview process
Share the reason why you are excited to work for the company.
Showcase your best projects.
Have questions ready for the interviewer to answer.
2. Highlights your problem-solving and decision-making skills
Explain why does your project matter (business needs)?
Share what do you understand about users’ needs and pain points?
How do you solve problems?
3. Show the output of your work
Decide how your chosen interaction patterns are better than alternatives.
Explain the intentional colors and typography choices.
Share how you design within constraints (tech debt, feasibility, etc.).
4. Tackle Behavioral Questions
How do you handle interpersonal conflict & how do you work with people?
How do you creatively work within your project constraints?
Present concrete evidence of your missteps & recovery.
5. Avoid Common Missteps
Do not explain or justify the activities you chose in your design process.
Focus too much on the project context (team members, high-level process, etc.) instead of how you solved the problem.
Remember: do not be afraid to be different as all design processes vary depending on the problem and constraints.
