A LinkedIn study revealed that 40% of professionals struggle with imposter syndrome, often downplaying their achievements & only 14% of employees feel comfortable advocating for a raise or promotion without clear proof of their contributions.
Friends,
A while back, I was helping a friend prepare for her performance review & I realized there's a major challenge many people face i.e. to remember their key accomplishments when it matters most. Despite working on multiple high-impact projects, it was difficult for her to recall specific achievements and quantify her impact!
I did some research on the internet to understand why tracking your achievements is so important for your career growth & here are some key takeaways:
Employees who track their achievements are 3x more likely to land a job offer compared to those who don’t.
85% of promotions are given to employees who proactively advocate for their own growth.
Employees who prepare for performance reviews with a structured hype doc negotiate 10-20% higher salaries than those who don’t.
37% of managers prefer employees who advocate for their own growth—those who present clear, data-backed accomplishments during performance reviews have a higher chance of getting promoted.
Job seekers who leverage their hype docs in resumes and interviews increase their chances of getting hired by 40% due to well-articulated impact statements.
A well-documented career hype doc can speed up the hiring process, making it easier for recruiters to see your value.
This is exactly why a Career Hype Doc is a game-changer ✅
Instead of scrambling to recall achievements when the time comes, a Hype Doc keeps track of your wins in real time — so you’re always prepared for job interviews, promotions, and salary negotiations.
📌 But here’s the interesting part - even after all this, only 6% of the individuals work on maintaining the hype doc.

The Career Hype Document
Why it works?
Let’s make it clear. A Hype Doc is a living, breathing document where you regularly track and document your career achievements. Basically, a tool that empowers you to see your impact clearly and confidently.
So, why all the hype?
The Structured Way to Prepare for Career Conversations: Whether it’s a promotion discussion, salary negotiation, or job interview, a Hype Doc ensures that you’re prepared to speak to your contributions with evidence.
Your "Receipts" for Contributions: It ensures you’re keeping receipts—documenting the work that may not be immediately visible to others but still contributes significantly to the team and business.
A Confidence Booster: Of course, it feels good to look back at your achievements when you’re struggling. Isn’t it?
Now that you know how important it is to record your achievements, let’s see how to set it up.
How to set up your career hype doc?
I did some research and read some of the best hype docs on the internet. (Don’t worry, I’ll share them with you in this blog 😉)
I realized that setting up your Career Hype Doc is simple, but the key is keeping it organized and up-to-date. Whether you're using Google Docs, Notion, Figma, or Dropbox Paper, the format is entirely up to you. Choose a tool that you’re comfortable with, one that allows you to easily update & track your progress over time 💯
Here’s how to get started:
1. Choose your format
The first step is to decide which tool you’ll use. Here are a few options:
Google Docs: A simple, text-based format where you can easily jot down your accomplishments and update them regularly.
Notion: A more organized option, allowing you to create sections, tables, and tags for easy filtering.
Figma: Great for designers—visualize your achievements and showcase your design projects directly.
Dropbox Paper: Another flexible option that integrates well with other files and allows easy collaboration.
2. What to include?
Now that you know which tool you wanna use, the question is what to add to make it as impactful as possible:
