This is an interesting read. It's cool to see a successful example of going against the current. The idea of complex UX can retain users is counter-intuitive, but makes a lot of sense.

This makes me wonder if it's possible to build a social media without all the addicting features, yet maintain healthy user engagements.

I built a social platform without all the addicting features in 2020. There's a lot of cool projects doing the same. They often fly below the radar because they're less addicting. You'll find them if you look.
