great article! one thing i'd add is the easy initial traction they gave early creators on the platform... it was the only place where you could be pretty new and then easily capture 2k+, 5k+, 10k+ views.
Compare that to most new youtubers who will be lucky if their new videos get 10 views.
I wonder if the government will end up banning TikTok.
If it does then many businesses and creator who uses TikTok for marketing and promotion may end up dying. Going to be interested to see how it plays out
It's insane to think about it, considering it's one of those platform creating younger sub cultures throughout all generations. Hopefully, it ends up well - the promises made by Shou on data protection on local soil is solid imho.
